ORLANDO, Fla. – Heron Home & Outdoor, an Orlando-based provider for indoor and outdoor home services recently introduced Pest Max, a comprehensive, all-inclusive pest control program. Heron wanted to make a big impact on the community and convey that this isn’t your average pest control, so this service was launched in the form of a mock funeral procession for Charlie “The Roach” Scurryfield who made the mistake of wandering in to a “Heron Home.”
The service was launched through a mock funeral procession for Charles “The Roach” Scurryfield as a reminder to homeowners to take the necessary precautions to ensure their home is protected from unwanted visitors.
Charles “The Roach” Scurryfield – an 8-foot by 4-foot American Cockroach – was placed on top of a classic 80s-style hearse with the catchy phrases on the side, “We take bugs to the grave,” and “Honk if you like dead bugs.” A funeral procession made its way through downtown Orlando with stops for residents to take pictures and learn Charlie’s story. Heron employees dressed for the occasion and handed out black roses with an obituary for Scurryfield attached.
“It is very important that homeowners are aware of problematic pests and the ways they can enter their homes,” stated Steve Okros, COO of Heron Home & Outdoor, Associate Certified Entomologist and 20-year industry veteran. “In the recent aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, homeowners experienced increased pest activity. We were delighted to see bystanders participating in the charade. The idea was to educate customers about Pest Max in a fun and engaging way.”
Looking ahead, Scurryfield and his Heron Home & Outdoor friends will be seen throughout Central Florida at community events and in parades, continuing to remind residents of the importance of protecting their homes. Visit MyHeronHome.com to learn more about Heron Home & Outdoor.
