DALLAS – Danny Myers, whose involvement in the pest control industry included founding VM Products with Ethan Vickery and founding/owning Myers Services, Bedford Texas, died on Dec. 3. He was 68.
A native of Louisiana, Myers was a standout baseball pitcher who played collegiately at Northwestern State University (La.) and later at Centenary College.
His career in the pest control industry began at Dallas Pest & Termite Services, where he learned the ropes. After a brief exit from the industry, he and wife Stephanie launched Myers Pest & Termite Services in Euless, Texas, in 1981.
Myers Services grew to become a $9 million business by 2012 (at the time #65 on the PCT Top 100 list) when Danny Myers sold the company to Massey Services.
One of Myers’ industry colleagues whom he grew close to was Ethan Vickery. When Vickery founded VM Products with a vision for the first EZ Klean, Myers came on board as a key supporter, offering both financing and mentorship. “Together, we transformed the VM brand into a recognized industry leader,” says Vickery. “Our collaboration was built on talent, friendship, vision, hard work, and a shared commitment to people and products that laid the foundation for success.” (Vickery is the V and Myers the M in VM Products).
As noted in a VM Products press release, “Danny firmly believed that no matter what you want ‘if you just do what you have to do,’ you’ll achieve it. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel special, and his presence in any room was unmistakable — always smiling and uplifting.”
Danny Myers is survived by wife Stephanie, son Judd, and daughter Lauryn. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at, 1 p.m., at Bluebonnet Hills, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas 76034.
