DORCHESTER COUNTY - Joe Way, South Central region manager, Terminix Service, passed away on Aug. 17, at 48.
According to WCBD, Way died after being involved in an ATV vs. car collision that occurred Saturday afternoon in Dorchester Countr.
Way came to Terminix Service almost 30 years, beginning as one of the company's "keymen" service professionals at its Summerville, S.C., branch. After excelling in that position he was promoted several times to branch manager positions before ultimately becoming South Central region manager. He was praised by team members for his hard work, commitment to excellence and servant leadership.
Rion Cobb, vice president of human services, shared the news with employees in a memo, remembering Way as someone who saw co-workers, supervisees, supervisors, and even customers, as people with whom he could share a relationship. Cobb wrote: Joe lived a faithful example of managing as a servant leader. A man who leads from the front, who builds up his team, who both stands for and requires accountability and commitment, while expecting more of himself than he does from those with whom he works. He was one who overcame many obstacles, personal and professional, but did not complain or toss them on to others, yet willingly shared in the struggles of others. He was a mentor and friend.
Way’s visitation (10 a.m.) and funeral (11 a.m.) will be Thursday, at Indian Field Campground, 112-198 Asbury Dr., Saint George, SC 29477. His obituary can be found at https://www.bryantfuneral.org/obituary/JohnJoe-Way
