BOSTON - The pest control industry mourns the loss of Marybeth Wonson, who died on Jan. 14, at 81. She and husband Peter founded General Environmental Services, Malden, Mass., in 1979.
According to her obituary, Marybeth and Peter met in the first grade, married him in 1967, and started their family in 1970. They moved to Essex in 1977 where they spent many joyful days on the Essex River with family and friends. In 1979 they founded General Environmental Services, a small regional pest management firm.
General Environmental Services remains a family-owned business that provides commercial and residential pest control services to Boston and the surrounding areas.
She is survived by Peter and their four children and nine grandchildren. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist, 52 Main Street, Essex, on Jan. 22, at 10 am. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services will conclude with interment at Spring Street Cemetery, Essex. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Donations may be made in Marybeth’s memory to Care Dimensions (www.caredimensions.org).
