MINNEAPOLIS – Bedlam Plus, a new bed bug insecticide developed by MGK and recently accepted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be available to the professional pest control industry starting in March. The product will provide a new, effective tool to help professionals control bed bugs and bed bug eggs, including those that are resistant to the most commonly used insecticides. Bed Bug resistance to pyrethroid insecticides has become a widespread problem that is contributing to the challenge of controlling this invasive pest.
Bedlam Plus is formulated to deliver two different modes of action, quickly killing even the most resistant bed bugs. It is the first product to combine a fast-acting pyrethroid, a non-pyrethroid killing agent, and a synergist into an easy-to-use aerosol for professionals. The unique formula continues to kill for up to two weeks after spraying. Bedlam Plus is a water-based spray that can be used by professionals for a broad range of treatment options. It can be applied for spot treatment on hard-to-treat surfaces such as mattresses, box springs, carpet and furniture. It also has an attachment for treating small cracks and crevices where bed bugs like to hide.
“We are always looking for new products and solutions to help professionals better control insects,” said IanThorburn, marketing team manager for MGK. “With the evolving resistance of bed bugs to pyrethroids, pest control professionals have had limited options for effectively managing bed bugs and their eggs. And with EPA acceptance, Bedlam Plus now is an excellent choice for pest control professionals who require a fast and reliable solution to help control resistant bed bug populations.“
Bedlam Plus has been submitted to the EPA for registration in all fifty states and is expected to be available in most states by mid-March 2012.
