
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Michigan Pest Management Association (MPMA) wrapped up its 78th Annual Winter Meeting on Feb. 21, with a successful two-day event at the FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Mich.
The meeting brought together more than 50 pest control companies from across the state of Michigan for an informative meeting filled with technical training, networking opportunities and industry updates.
This year’s event featured a diverse array of presenters, technical sessions and discussions led by experts in pest management. Attendees had the opportunity to receive in-depth training on the latest pest control techniques, industry best practices and regulatory changes. The meeting served as an invaluable resource for pest control professionals seeking to advance their knowledge and stay ahead of industry trends.
“We are thrilled with the turnout and success of this year’s Winter Meeting,” said Steve Alcala, MPMA President. “It was a fantastic opportunity for industry professionals to come together, learn, and network. We’re excited to continue building on this momentum in the year ahead.”
Scholarship Winners Highlighted. During the event, the MPMA recognized the achievements of its scholarship recipients, Madeline and Brandon. Their dedication to the pest management industry and academic excellence were celebrated during the meeting.

PCT Crown Leadership Class of 2024 Spotlight. The MPMA also congratulated Bill Welsh of Rose Pest Solutions, who was selected to join the prestigious PCT Crown Leadership Class of 2024. Welsh's recognition reflects his leadership and commitment to the advancement of the pest management profession.
MPMA Board Elections. The meeting also included the election of key MPMA leadership positions for the coming year. Steve Alcala of Pronto Pest Management was elected as the new President, while Jaime Pilbeam of Superior Pest Control will serve as Vice President. Charles Bellgraph of Aardvark Pest Management was re-elected as Treasurer.
In addition, the MPMA Board of Trustees saw the election of Damon Washington from Peace Pest Consultants as a new trustee, while Maria Sorrentino from Pest Pros of Michigan was re-elected. David Driver of Veseris was elected as an Allied Member Trustee, strengthening the association’s ties with industry partners.
Veseris served as the Title Event Sponsor, with featured sponsors including Zoecon, BASF, Syngenta, ENVU, Target Specialty, R-Pro Partners & Solutions, and Ensystex. Presenter sponsors included MGK, Nisus, NPMA, Central Life Sciences, Syngenta, MMCA, AAC Distributing, and Bird-B-Gone.
