The Orkin Midwest Division recently announced a partnership with Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (MSHV) through a $10,000 donation to support their efforts. The partnership is part of the OrkinServes program, in which branches across the country partner with organizations their local communities. Through this sponsorship, MSHV will be able to further support its mission of helping veterans and their families.
Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans is a non-profit agency that provides housing, supportive services and community outreach to help homeless and at-risk veterans and their families achieve self-sufficiency. Founded in 2007, by Vietnam War veteran Bob Adams and Gulf War veteran Dirk Enger, MSHV operates on a vision of no veteran left behind due to homelessness, joblessness, poverty and/or mental health issues.
Recently, Orkin Midwest Division representatives helped distribute the care packages to veterans who are part of MSHV’s Army Capt. Kevin C. Landeck Freedom Commissary in Wheaton, Ill. Capt. Landeck, whose family lives in Wheaton, was killed in action in February 2007 by a roadside bomb in Iraq. The Freedom Commissary named for him provides essential items of paper goods, cleaning supplies, and personal care items for residents of the Freedom’s Path living facility.
“Orkin has always taken pride in being a company that supports and hires veterans, and we are honored to support Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans,” said Pat Chrzanowski, Orkin Midwest Division President. “As a former Naval officer and veteran, the work they are doing really strikes a chord with my team and me. To put it simply, no one should be homeless, especially veterans who have served and protected our country.”
“We are thankful for Orkin’s support of our programs and thrilled at the donation they have made to our organization,” said Christine Lewis, executive director of MSHV. “We appreciate their specific support of the Capt. Kevin C. Landeck Freedom Commissary and know the veterans we serve appreciate it as well.”
