CLEVELAND — Pest Control Technology (PCT) magazine announced the winners of $50 Visa gift cards for participating in PCT research conducted by third-party firm Readex Research. Results from these surveys were from PCT’s State of the Cockroach and Ant Market reports in 2024.
The following PMPs were awarded the gift cards for completing the surveys:
- Cheryl Jacobson, owner, Guardian Pest Solutions, Missoula, Mont.
- Richard Sutton, owner, Brothers Pest Control, Lubbock, Texas.
- Ben Chapman, owner, Beneli Pest Control, Houston, Texas.
- Tom Fraser, general manager, Professional Pest Control, Madison, Wisc.
Chapman and his wife Eli work together to run Beneli Pest Control. Chapman said he handles any pest related issues, runs routes and sells services to any potential commercial accounts, and she handles office communications and paperwork.
Chapman said he credits his parents for fostering a strong work ethic at a young age for himself and his nine other siblings for the success of his business.
“I truly enjoy learning about insects; they are fascinating to me,” he said. “However, I was always terrified speaking to people, let alone selling them a service. Working for the company I started with before running my own gave me the opportunity to interact with people and get to know them.”
Houston’s increased pest pressures are keeping Chapman busy, he said.
“German roaches are a constant source of income year round,” he said. “Due to Houston's extreme temperature shifts, we get termite and general insects in the summer, rodent calls during our harsh freeze and ants in-between the two.”

Sutton started his pest control business, Brothers Pest Control, to compliment his real estate portfolio, he said, and has recently expanded to adding weed, fertilization and mosquito services.
“I have grown a lot in the different aspects of the business, like learning about pesticides, [managing] employees, routing and marketing,” Sutton said.
Sutton also working in Texas, he said their biggest pest challenges are rodents and cockroaches, mosquitoes and your typical household pests, like spiders and ants.
