OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Emily Kriley, A.C.E., owner of Pink Pest Solutions, decided to take her decade of pest management experience and bring her vision to life for owning and operating her own pest control company.

Kriley started in the pest control industry 10 years ago as an office manager at Joshua’s Pest Control, a part of Moxie Pest Control, and worked her way to chief operating office of Moxie. After structural changes in the company, Kriley said she felt like it was the right time to start her own business journey.

“The company grew really fast and gave me a lot of opportunities to learn,” she said. “I had been daydreaming for a long time about having my own local operation and now was the time.”

During her time at Moxie, she worked through rapid growth and managing large teams. “I think all of that's going to be super helpful in the small startup environment,” Kriley said.

Kriley said she will offer general pest control, termite and mosquito services, and predicts ants will be the No. 1 concern this spring season.

"I just plan on offering people real value to their money and a quality service,” she said. “I think, especially here in Kansas City, people appreciate a local company.”

Being a part of the pest control industry for 10 years has given Kriley the support from other business owners to start her own venture. “There’s such a great sense of community and owners helping [newer] owners; I think it gives people like me a lot of confidence to start a business,” she said.

Kriley also received her associate certified entomologist (A.C.E.) credentials, which she feels sets her apart as a distinguished pest control professional in her service area.
