FAIRFAX, Va. – This week, Oct. 20 – 26, is Rodent Awareness Week, an annual observance established by the Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA) and recognized by Chase’s Calendar of Events to bring attention to the prevalence of rodents and the threats they pose to health and property.
PPMA, which serves as the public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), is dedicating this week to educating consumers on the dangers posed by rodents and the importance of taking proper prevention measures.
“As temperatures cool and we enter peak rodent season, we urge all pest control companies to participate in Rodent Awareness Week to educate their customers about these pests,” said Dr. Jim Fredericks, executive director of PPMA. “It’s vital that consumers understand the necessary role pest control professionals play to keep homes and businesses safe and rodent-free.”
To support pest control companies in their marketing efforts, PPMA created a Rodent Awareness Week toolkit available to subscribers of PPMAMainframe.org. The exclusive toolkit includes customizable press releases, suggested social media content, Rodent Awareness Week logos, high-resolution photography, media training documents, and video content that can be easily embedded on company websites.
PPMA will also be sharing educational information and prevention tips across its @PestWorld social media channels throughout the week. Content will include videos from PPMA’s Rodents Revealed and Out of Sight projects, as well as our newest video series What Grows There which showcases the shocking truth behind common household pests like mice and the dangerous bacteria and diseases they carry. Pest control companies can also join in this initiative by focusing their social media content on rodents and using the hashtag #RodentAwarenessWeek.
