BUCHANAN, N.Y. – During JP McHale’s 2023 Kickoff Meeting, Jose Colon was awarded with a certificate for 15 years of service from Platform President James McHale. It would be Colon’s last Kickoff meeting, as he retired this year.
Timson Green, associate branch manager, said that Colon made an impact on the company in numerous ways.

“Jose Colon has made several contributions to the culture and service excellence at JP McHale while spending time working in different aspects of the business,” he said. “If you are looking for a residential specialist, you can call Jose. If you need a commercial pest management professional that will take on any challenge, then look no further than Mr. Colon.”
Colon called the pest management industry a “hidden gem.”
“I will miss the daily customer interactions, working alongside my peers to solve unique challenges,” Colon said. “I will certainly miss developing our PMPs.”
According to Green, the New York City market has benefited from Colon’s presence.
“One can hardly walk through Manhattan without hearing someone yell out Jose’s name in adoration while simultaneously observing Jose flash that magnetic smile,” Green said. “This reverence is also shared between Jose and his peer supervisors. Each of our service supervisors have called on Jose for guidance. The technicians who report to Jose have a similar adoration of his availability, seniority and pest control knowledge.”
Colon also believed in leading by example, Green said.
“His pride and professionalism are always on display,” he said. “We often joke that Jose has a clean set of uniforms for pajamas. He wakes up donned in a company hat, a button up shirt, unform pants and his boots are always as shiny as if he stops at the shoe-shining booths in Grand Central Station.”
Before joining JP McHale 15 years ago, Colon worked at a printing press in Puerto Rico. He will be returning home to Puerto Rico in his retirement.
“We wish Jose a happy retirement and appreciate his contributions to our industry,” Green said. “We can imagine Colon enjoying a Medalla beer in his native country of Puerto Rico while flashing that same magnetic smile to the new communities he will impact during retirement.”
