Steritech Acquires Integrated Pest Management, Inc.

Steritech has acquired the commercial business of Integrated Pest Management, Inc. (IPM), headquartered in Wilmington, N.C.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  Steritech announced today its acquisition of the commercial business of Integrated Pest Management, Inc. (IPM), headquartered in Wilmington, N.C. Family-owned and operated by Shane Faulkner, founder and president, IPM provides pest management services in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

As part of the acquisition, seven IPM employees will join the Steritech team. In total, it will add approximately 500 commercial accounts to Steritech’s business in the Southeastern U.S.

IPM was established in 1998, and originally focused on commercial and health care facilities. Today, the company has expanded its footprint within the commercial market, providing the same quality service to customers who expect more than the industry standard. Under the terms of the acquisition, Faulkner will retain the company’s residential business under the IPM name.

Steritech is also privately held and family-owned. The company was founded in 1986 by John Whitley, who created the company based on two criteria: treating employees well and providing a safe, quality pest management service that delivers on its promises to the client. Presently, the company serves 70,000 clients and is ranked the 7th largest pest management company in the nation by PCT Magazine.

Faulkner explained that it was critical for him to sell his business to a company that – like his own – demonstrated high standards of quality and service while also upholding the principals and values typically subscribed to by a family-owned business. Those principals include a strong appreciation and commitment to its employees.

“What impressed us most about Steritech,” said Faulkner, “is that in addition to its leadership position and performance in the industry, the fact that even as it’s grown in size and influence, it’s never wavered in its core belief that it is the employees that deliver the service which make the organization great.” Faulkner commended Steritech for the ethos and respect it showed his smaller company through the acquisition process.
