Steritech Promotes Judy Black

Judy Black has been promoted to vice president, technical services, for the company’s Pest Prevention business.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Steritech Group, is pleased to announce the promotion of Judy Black to Vice President, Technical Services for the company’s Pest Prevention business.

The newly created position recognizes the success Black has had in her role as Technical Director, as well as lends credence to the work that she has done as a Steritech ambassador within the industry.  In her new position, Black will continue to oversee Steritech’s Pest Prevention research, development and technical operational support.  

Black joined Steritech in March 1994 and has served in a variety of service and management roles during her tenure.  Since her earliest days with Steritech, Black has been committed to minimizing pesticide usage within the company and has been one of the key team members in building Steritech’s EcoSensitive® System and Zero Tolerance® Pest Prevention approach.  

In a career that spans 25 years, Black has been a champion for the pest management industry, chairing the National Pest Management Association’s Technical Committee for several years and serving as the Director of the Certification Board for the Entomological Society of America in 2007.  She has a keen interest in developing industry standards for emerging issues, and recently served on NPMA’s Bed Bug Blue Ribbon Task Force, which worked to develop universal guidance around service for this pest.

As a structural pest management expert, Black is an oft-requested speaker at industry events, and has given featured talks at NPMA’s Pest World, Purdue’s Pest Management Conference and the International IPM Symposium. She recently authored the Equipment chapter in the 10th edition of The Mallis Handbook of Pest Control, and also contributed the Fabric Pests chapter to the 9th edition.  

In 2007, Black was awarded the PCT Crown Technical Excellence Award.  Last October, she received the PCT/Syngenta Crown Leadership Award.

A resident of Broomfield, Colorado, Black is a graduate of West Virginia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with an emphasis in Environmental Protection, as well as a Master of Science in Entomology.  She is a member of Pi Chi Omega, the national pest control fraternity.
