Syngenta Introduces 16 Pound Packaging for Talon-G Rodenticide

Initiated in response to the EPA’s rodenticide mitigation decision (RMD) first announced on May 28, 2008, the new Talon-G packaging enables Syngenta to keep this and other rodenticide products available to PMPs.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Syngenta announced a new 16 pound package of Talon-G rodenticide for pest management professionals (PMPs).  The new packaging will continue to provide PMPs with a single dose of Talon-G for the effective knockdown of rats and mice, according to Syngenta.

Initiated in response to the EPA’s rodenticide mitigation decision (RMD) first announced on May 28, 2008, the new Talon-G packaging enables Syngenta to keep this and other rodenticide products available to PMPs.

The RMD requires that all second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides containing the active ingredients brodifacoum, bromadiolone, difethialone, or difenacoum be sold in unit quantities of at least 16 pounds by June 2011. PMPs may continue using the older packages of Talon-G until they are phased out through existing distribution channels.

“This new pack size will help PMPs effectively use Talon-G and other rodenticides to continue meeting their customer’s needs, while increasing their stewardship and safe handling,” says Pat Willenbrock, brand manager, Syngenta.

The original Talon-G pail held just under 8 pounds of place packs. The new packaging unit contains 2 pails of 8 pounds each, which will provide customers with the same performance of Talon-G they have come to expect.

Talon-G is known for its palatability and effectiveness against warfarin-resistant mice and rats at low dosages, Syngenta reports. The bait includes Bitrex, a human taste deterrent, and should always be applied out of reach of children, domestic animals and non-targeted wildlife, or in tamper-resistant bait stations, such as the Syngenta Multiplex® Station.
