LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Tailor Made Pest Control, founded by Christian Allan, acquired local pest control company Swat Team Pest Control. Beginning his pest control career in 2013, Allan started as a technician for Charlie Hodges, former owner of Swat Team.
In 2021, Allan realized the potential and long-term benefits of owning/operating his own pest control company. With the help of his wife, Contea Allan, he left the company and the couple started Tailor Made Pest Control.
The name Tailor Made came from the idea of tailoring each service to each individual home, business and pest problem; Utilizing an Assessment-Based Pest Management (APM) approach instead of just "spraying and praying," Allan said.
“We have doubled year over year since we started in 2021. Our strategy has been to introduce ourselves to as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time,” he said. “I originally did not grow up in Kentucky, so I do not have strong ties like a lot of people do, and every small business issue is obscure. I utilized networking groups and social media to get my and Tailor Made's name out.”
Allan’s long-term succession plan was for him to work with Hodges and to one day acquire the business and allow Hodges to retire. Allan said he felt like now was the right time for this strategic growth decision.
Swat Team Pest Control, based in Valley Station, is a small, locally owned company, and Allan said he plans on onboarding the two skilled technicians into his company.
“The plan is to fully merge Swat Team into the Tailor Made brand, slowly moving things over,” he said. “For me to be able to buy it, and continue the legacy is such an honor for me.”
