Western PurClean Treatment Donated to Local Firehouse

Western Pest Services donated a PurClean service to Nutley Firehouse to help keep first responders safe and healthy.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — As a public health and safety service to our frontline workers, team members from Western Pest Services were happy to perform a complimentary Western PurClean™ professional disinfectant treatment at the Nutley Firehouse.

The Nutley Fire Department is a combination department comprised of both full-time and volunteer firefighters. Its members are stationed at headquarters 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. They need to stay healthy so there is never a shortage of first responders. Professionally disinfecting their firehouse will help with that. The department currently has 2 Engine companies and 1 Ladder company at Fire Headquarters as well as 1 Engine company located on each side of the Township.

The Fire Department has created a program named “Smoke Detectors for Seniors” where they will come to the home of a senior member of the community and install a smoke detector that will last for 10 years. While there, members will also perform a safety inspection of the home and leave the senior with recommendations to make their home safer – all free of charge. Their most vulnerable citizens, the elderly, need to be able to trust the people that are coming into their homes are being as safe as possible. Besides using facemasks and practicing social distancing, making sure their firehouse has been professionally disinfected will ensure their surroundings are 99.99% free of bacteria, viruses, and pathogens – including SARS-CoV-2, which actually causes COVID-19. The Western PurClean™ treatment did that for them.

The department’s roles and responsibilities have evolved over the last several years. They not only respond to all fire related incidents, but they are also called to respond to carbon monoxide incidents, medical incidents, and motor vehicle crashes involving entrapment. Keeping them safe helps keep the community safe, too.

Western Commercial Account Executive, Rosalie Alers, set up the treatment. When asked why she said, “I thought we should give back and this is just one way we can. Doing something for our community always makes me feel good – especially when it’s for our first responders. They dedicate their life to helping us and I wanted to thank them.”

The Deputy Fire Chief, Paul Cafone, was happy when Western Pest Services approached him about having the Western PurClean disinfectant treatment done in his firehouse because he knows the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed Western to go to the next level of disinfecting and cleaning. He also realized that routine cleaning can sometimes become monotonous, and that can cause some to miss places or forget about the places you can’t reach.

When we asked him why he was open to the complimentary treatment, Cafone said, “Western has a very good reputation in pest services and it was good to know they now provide a tremendous cleaning service. It’s just the next level for Western and it certainly helps us in the Township of Nutley at the Fire Department. We appreciate their offer to do this free session showing us their capabilities and new services.”

Making sure our first responders stay healthy means they will be there when their community needs their help. Western Pest Services was proud to help make sure it stays that way.
