TUCSON - Truly Nolen Pest Control recently opened at 711 W. 2nd Avenue in Corsicana. The franchise, which is the fourth Texas franchise location for Truly Nolen, is owned by franchisee Johnny Whearley, and exclusively services Austin, Texas. The company also has eight corporate service offices throughout Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, El Paso and surrounding areas.
Whearley, who graduated Dallas Baptist University with a degree in dusiness, is also the owner of Fireman’s Pest Control, which he started in 2009 following 21 years as a Dallas-area firefighter. However, he remains involved in his previous profession as he is also the current Fire Chief for the Mustang VFD Fire Department. He has 35 years of experience as a firefighter.
“I have always had a passion for helping people,” said Whearley. “When I retired from the Dallas area, I opened up Fireman’s Pest Control for that same reason – to help people.”
After almost a decade running his company in Corsicana, Whearley noticed Truly Nolen had a corporate service office in the Austin area and began helping the office’s national accounts. When the service office elected to become a franchise-based one, Whearley did not hesitate.
“I saw the potential of the Austin area and using a familiar name like Truly Nolen would give us a large advantage of building the business up faster,” said Whearley. “As much as I liked our previous name, it was a no-brainer for me.”
Whearley opened his Truly Nolen franchise Jan. 1, in Corsicana, servicing Austin and plans to hold a ribbon-cutting later in 2019.
Lance Washington, Truly Nolen Director, Domestic Franchising, said Whearley went through training recently at the company’s Leadership Center in Tucson, Ariz. and is pleased to have him as part of the company’s family.
“Johnny has my respect for all of the great things he has done as a fireman throughout his career,” said Washington. “His familiarity in the Austin area, decade of pest control experience, and excellence with customer service should help him in the years to come.”
