PCT’s most recent reader poll asked: Which of the following concerns you the most with your workforce?

More than 60 percent of those who responded said employee burnout (37 percent) and employee work-life balance (27 percent) were their greatest concerns.

Ashly Morrison, president of City Wide Exterminating said employee burnout and work-life balance are not mutually exclusive but many times they do go hand in hand.

“It’s easy for companies to keep asking more of their teams to meet consumer demand, but having hired several people looking for a better work/life balance, it’s a priority for us,” she said. “We’ve really made a conscious effort to pull back on over scheduling, accommodate flexible schedule requests when possible, and have gone as far as creating custom route schedules to make sure daycare pick up, after school activities, etc., are a priority for our team.”

Others who responded to our poll were concerned about people leaving for other jobs (24 percent) and quiet quitting (13 percent), a fairly recent term that means doing no more than is expected.
