McLaughlin Gormley King Company
Pest control professionals who install and service automatic misting systems to control insects now have a high performance insecticide that will not harm landscape plants and is easier to handle, says McLaughlin Gormley King. The company has introduced VamPyre Misting Concentrate. VamPyre is a water-based microemulsion powered by pyrethrum (an extract of chrysanthemum-like flowers) and synergized by piperonyl butoxide (PBO). VamPyre features the highest performing ratio of pyrethrum to synergist, reducing the likelihood of insecticide resistance, MGK reports. VamPyre is a water-based microemulsion designed to provide long-term stability in a water dilution. VamPyre’s formulation provides high levels of safety to sensitive flowers and landscape plants, even with repeated applications.

EcoSMART
EcoSMART Technologies has introduced a new line of botanical pesticides in its EcoPCO product line named EcoPCO "X." These products represent the next generation of botanical pesticides that utilize a dual mode of action for both quick knockdown and residual performance comparable with traditional actives without the fragrance commonly associated with botanicals. EcoSMART developed this new technology by combining the company’s plant oils with pyrethrum. The resulting synergistic effect provides both quick knockdown and a long residual, the company said. The new line of EcoPCO "X" products includes a residual aerosol (EcoPCO AR•X: 17-ounce can), a wasp/hornet aerosol (EcoPCO JET•X: 14-ounce can), a dust (EcoPCO D•X: 10-ounce bottle and 5-pound pail) and a wettable powder (EcoPCO WP•X: 1-pound container). These formulations have flexible labels for both interior and exterior applications, are non-staining and can be used with conventional equipment.

XT-2000
XT-2000, also referred to as "orange oil," is a naturally occurring essential oil containing the active ingredient d-limonene. Derived from the rind of oranges, this citrus oil has been successfully used for a multitude of purposes, including the eradication of drywood termites. Recently, EPA provided approval of XT-2000 orange oil for the treatment of trees infested with wood-destroying beetles. Generally regarded as safe (GRAS), test studies found a 93.5 to 98 percent kill ratio of beetles when applying XT-2000 orange oil, the company reports.
XT-2000 orange oil has the unique ability to wick through wood, moving through wood’s porous cells in all directions. In tests with wood-boring beetles, XT-2000 was first applied to the exterior of the tree. The orange oil then traveled through the bark into the cambrium area of the tree, killing beetles within 24 hours. XT-2000 is pending state registration.

INNOVATIVE PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS
Innovative Pest Control Products has been granted a new patent for another "innovative" bait station design. Additional patents based on this design are also pending. This is the fourth patent issued to the company for insect bait station design. The new bait station, designed as a disposable, ready-to-use bait station for liquid baits, can be used in conjunction with liquid or gel baits to control both ants and small roaches. The new bait station benefits from a stable design that resists tipping (even if the bait is fully inverted, only a few drops of bait are able to spill out). The design also reduces exposure of the bait to the environment and keeps bait fresh and attractive longer. The company said it expects this bait station to be available (prefilled with Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait) by September.

DR. T’S
Snake-A-Way is the world’s only EPA-registered, university-tested, patented snake repellent, according to its manufacturer. The product is effective against both poisonous and non-poisonous snakes, Dr. T’s reports. Dr. T’s utilizes the knowledge about the snake’s Jacobson’s organ and interference with the snake’s sensory reception ability. As Dr. T’s Snake-A-Way active ingredient vaporizes, it is brought into the sensory receptor (Jacobson’s organ) and creates an immediate interference. The effect is repressive enough to close down the sensory system and scare the snake into a hasty retreat. In layman’s terms, the snake’s nervous system is temporarily shut down until the snake reaches fresh air. Dr. T’s Snake Away will remain effective for up to three months when applied as directed.

BIRD BARRIER
The new Bird Shock Flex-Track from Bird Barrier is the only low-profile mechanical ledge deterrent that works to repel all species of pest birds, the company says. It is ideal for long ledges, roof peaks, Spanish-tile, parapet caps and electric sign letters. This electrical track system works by sending a crisp, harmless electric shock through the track, which is transmitted to the birds’ feet, conditioning them to leave the area permanently, Bird Barrier reports. It is only ¼ inch tall so installations are discreet and architecturally pleasing.
Bird-Shock Flex-Track is available in four colors and it cannot be seen looking up from below. The flexible and adaptable electrified track conforms to any architectural configuration. Flex-Track curves up and down and side to side; the stainless steel strapping follows the PVC base without wrinkling. It is made from UV-stabilized PVC and stainless steel.
