CLEVELAND – Pest management professionals are always wanting to meet the demands of today’s customers, and this is particularly true when it comes to collecting payments. Eighty-one percent of those who responded to PCT’s recent poll said credit card is the most popular payment option for customers, followed by ACH fund transfer (9 percent) and check (8 percent).
EcoShield Pest Solutions, Norristown, Pa., only offers two ways for customers to pay: (1) recurring on a credit card, or (2) upfront in full for recurring service. Operations manager Joseph Barnak said credit card is customers’ preferred method because of ease of use. “It's a set up-and-forget-it way to pay,” he said.
Will White, owner of Nexus Pest Solutions, Milwaukee, Wis., said 60 percent of his customers pay with credit card. In 2020, that number was only about 20 percent. White said he understands this trend, as credit cards provide convenience.
“In a perfect world, I would still prefer being paid by check to avoid the credit card fees,” White said. “However, from a business standpoint, the credit card has gotten us paid a lot faster.”
