CLEVELAND – Once a topic rarely discussed, mental health has become increasingly recognized for its crucial role in overall health and well-being. As understanding has grown, employers are now offering more mental health benefits to support .their employees.

Results from PCT’s most reader poll show that 47% of PCOs have increased mental health care benefits for employees while 53% have not.

Andrew Sanefski, Perimetek Pest Management, E. Syracuse, N.Y., shared on PCT’s LinkedIn page: We added supplemental health benefits for all employees that include tele-health and access to mental health services. This is for full and part time employees whether they are part of the company sponsored healthcare plan or not.

PCT's sister publication, Lawn & Landscape, recently profiled Fisk Lawnscapes, which offers Therapy Benefit, a program that pays for Fisk Lawnscapes employees to attend 10 therapy sessions or offers a credit of $1,500 for those providers. It’s a no-questions-asked policy and an extra emphasis is placed on employee anonymity. Employees just need to select a licensed professional. Employees can credit the sessions to a company card or have their licensed professional contact the Fisk office to request payment information.

Owner Ben Fisk explained that this benefit touches safety in the workplace and employee retention. If employees are healthy, they’re less likely to make mistakes and they’re more likely to stay with the team.  Read the entire feature.
