CLEVELAND – Many pest control companies have found social media to be an important recruiting and hiring tool.
According to a recent PCT reader poll, 60 percent use social media to screen potential job candidates, while 40 percent do not.
Christ Slade, chief operating officer of Clements Pest Control, Vero Beach, Fla., said “in some cases” Clements will evaluate a candidate's public social media profiles. “It allows us to learn about their interests and values that they may bring into the workplace. We find it to be valuable information that leads to better hiring decisions for long-term team members.”
Career Builder also commissioned a Harris Poll in 2017, where they reported that when researching candidates for a job, employers who use social networking sites are looking for information that supports their qualifications for the job (61 percent), if the candidate has a professional online persona (50 percent), what other people are posting about the candidates (37 percent) and for a reason not to hire a candidate (24 percent).
