Pest Management Systems (PMi) Wins Gold Telly Award

PMi won the television advertising award for its "Misfits" campaign that features animated characters.


GREENSBORO, N.C. - Pest Management Systems (PMi) announced it was awarded a Gold Telly Award in the category of Local TV-Branding Campaign.

The winning campaign was the brainchild of the creative team from Spectrum Reach’s production agency, Kernel. Kernel Account Manager Derek Hillenbrand and Producer Chris Powell, were brought in when Andrew Hicks, vice president of operations for PMI, wanted some out-of-the-box creative for their new on-air campaign.

“Hyper engaging, fun, unique and memorable” were the words that flew around in brainstorming. Animation was on the table, but Andrew and the team were 100 percent sure — until the creative team came back with strategic research regarding animated characters in advertising campaigns. Powell mocked up storyboards featuring all the services PMI wished to advertise. The main branding ad, Misfits, was done by early May. Mosquito was completed by late May. Termite hit in early June and the final ad in the campaign was Moisture, which was on-air in September.

All four ads were submitted into the 2023 Telly Awards under the Local TV-Branding Campaign category, which garnered the highest recognition!
