
CLEVELAND – Anytime refine operations they will examine a number of key areas, including training, scheduling, routing and estimating.
PCT recently polled readers on this topic and 38 percent of those who responded to PCT’s recent poll said training was their top operational challenge.
The good news for owners and managers is that training is no longer limited to classroom and book training. Today’s trainers are making use of web-based training and video, and many companies have benefitted from mentoring programs, including having newer technicians ride along with seasoned veterans.
Twenty-eight percent of respondents said scheduling was their top challenge. Jerry Hatch, commercial sales manager,
"With so many people having both partners working you need to have weekend schedules. Wednesdays through Saturday 10 hours a day," said Jerry Hatch, commercial sales manager, Pinnacle Pest Control, Sacramento, Calif.
Twenty-seven percent of respondents said routing was their top challenge and 13 percent chose estimating.
