Truly Nolen Holds Zoom Grand Opening for Newest Franchise

The Winston-Salem, N.C. franchise, which is the third North Carolina location for Truly Nolen, is owned by franchisee Jim Bess.

TUCSON, Ariz.  – As franchise expansion continues in the Southeast, Truly Nolen Pest Control recently opened at 8011 North Point Blvd. #205, Winston-Salem. The franchise, which is the third North Carolina location for Truly Nolen, is owned by franchisee Jim Bess. On Aug. 18, Bess  hosted the company’s first-ever “Virtual” Ribbon Cutting which will include the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce, Chamber members, and Facebook fans.

Bess, who celebrated a soft opening in early-February, had originally been scheduled to have a “normal” Grand Opening on April 29 featuring the Truly Nolen Mouse Limo, company executives, and much more. However, when COVID-19 began shutting things down across the country, he opted in early-April to postpone the event until August 29. When it became clear to Bess a few weeks ago that in-person would still not work, he decided it was time to move ahead and do something a little bit different.

“Although I had been looking forward to the fun that normally goes into one of our Grand Openings, the health and safety of our team and our customers will always be our top priority,” said Bess. “Because pest control is essential to public health, after having so many meetings by Zoom over the last few months, I figured this would be the safest way to officially announce our arrival in Forsyth County rather than wait for an in-person date.”

Prior to purchasing his franchise, Bess already had seven years of experience in the pest control industry with multiple companies. He also spent nine years at ADT Security in sales and marketing.

Bess has been married to his wife Tamara for 26 years, has two adult children, and has one grandson. “I look forward to becoming involved with the local community,” said Bess. “My wife is a teacher, I was a firefighter earlier in my career, and both of my sons were Eagle Scouts.

Lance Washington, Truly Nolen Director of Domestic Franchising, said Bess went through training recently at the company’s East Coast Operations Center in Orlando, Fla., and he is pleased to have them as part of the company’s family.

“Jim was fantastic to work with during training and one thing I know is he wants to make the customer service experience the best it can be,” said Washington. “His past pest control experience and desire to help his community any way he can should help him in Forsyth County in the years to come.”
